Canteen with a graphic look
The Aleris-Hamlet private hospital in Søborg near Copenhagen has refurbished its staff canteen. The new Troldtekt line acoustic ceilings and lighting have given the room a completely new, modern feel.
The former TV studios of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation are now home to one of Aleris-Hamlet’s private hospitals, which performs a wide range of surgical procedures and diagnostic examinations. The staff canteen has just been relocated as part of a major refurbishment of the building, and new operating theatres have also been established.
The new canteen boasts excellent acoustics and lighting. The hospital complex consists of a number of atrium buildings, and the canteen is located at the heart of the complex, with high windows. The canteen is visually integrated with passageways on two sides, providing indirect views of an atrium.
Elegant whole
The new Troldtekt line acoustic ceilings direct the eye from the windows at one end, to the far end, underscoring the expanse of the room and adding a distinct character. Thanks to the lines in the Troldtekt panels, the entire ceiling surface blends into a coherent whole. Separated from the canteen by glass partitions, the passageway alongside the canteen is seamlessly integrated through sharing the same ceiling surface.
The same round black lighting fixtures have been used in both the canteen and the passageway, adding to the sense of a cohesive space. Aleris-Hamlet has installed wooden strips on the walls in the canteen and passageway, to counterbalance the many white surfaces and utilise the wall surfaces for additional acoustic regulation.
