With key words such as lodge, nature, living room and playfulness, JKAB Architects has created a working environment that is in harmony with the property’s historical characteristics and reflects the company’s creativity, family atmosphere and personal service.

JKAB Architects have themselves designed their office, which is located in the old regimental building Kavalleristen in Helsingborg – a property steeped in tradition with a history stretching back to the beginning of the 1900s. When the office was designed, the idea was to combine a robust and stylish expression with an unexpected and mischievous design idiom to try to create a varied environment. Historical characteristics that were previously concealed have been utilised and blended with natural and modern materials.

The office is furnished with a sofa, armchairs and a fireplace to give the sense of being in the architects’ living room. The sofa and armchairs and the bar table in the open-plan section form the heart of the office and the focal point for breaks and spontaneous meetings.

Good sound for optimal silence

To ensure that everyday life works optimally for the architects, it is important that creative meetings can be held in the living room, while people sit close by in smaller offices and work on tasks that require deep concentration. Sound is then a key factor in creating both the peace and the space to be creative together without having to close any doors.

Acoustic panels that improve the sound and give the space a lift

“We wanted to find a solution that deals with the acoustic problem that has arisen but also meets our additional aesthetic, functional and financial requirements.
