Architecturally respectful school refurbishment

Commanding a central location in the Malmö district of Limhamn, Linnéskolan has been extensively refurbished while respecting the school’s original architecture.

If walls could speak, those at Linnéskolan in Malmö could relate more than 100 years of school history.
The first building was erected in 1904, and the sense of history is tangible on stepping through the doors. Exposed bricks in different shades and patterns as well as hand-painted decorations all contribute to the overall look and feel of the place.

However, Linnéskolan recently underwent extensive refurbishment, with the purpose of creating an improved and up-to-date learning environment. The school has approx. 500 pupils in Years 4-9, and the white school building encloses a large playground, where pupils are able to play in various specially designed and motorically stimulating activity areas.

Peace and quiet for learning

At Linnéskolan, Troldtekt acoustic panels in natural wood have been installed in a T profile system, with each panel framed by a metal profile. The pale colours are easy on the eye, while the acoustic ceiling blends in well with the existing architecture.

In the classrooms and lounge areas, where pupils come together to socialise or work in small groups, it was important to create an indoor climate with good acoustics.
