Ulm Training Academy, Germany
With hundreds of qualifications for young people on offer, Ulm Training Academy is one of the largest providers of professional vocational training in southern Germany. The Academy has 220 seminar and workshop areas at its disposal and each year teaches up to 3200 students.
As part of a strategy spanning several years, the training centre underwent fundamental restructuring and modernisation. For example, for training apprentice plumbers and tile layers, renovated Hall 10 was adapted to the various crafts being taught and equipped with a range of building components, such as sound insulation, soundproof windows, vocation-specific flooring, a large entrance gate, roof renovation, as well as a steel platform for the plumbers’ roof models. In addition, new machines, work benches and tools all guarantee a modern apprenticeship which complies with legal requirements.
In workshop facilities, such as those in the Ulm Training Academy, exposure to noise can be unpleasant and cause both short and long term damage to ears and health. To avoid this and provide high performance environments, the ceilings and walls were finished with 35mm thick Troldtekt acoustic panels. The panels, comprising 100% natural wood fibres mixed with cement, offer outstanding sound absorption characteristics together with superior fire protection. The Troldtekt Panels are classified as fire protection class B-s1, d0 in accordance with DIN EN 13501. This means that the panels can boast the best possible classification for an organic construction material in accordance with the EU standard!
